Need advice about changing my hourly fee
Context:
I’m a 25yo Communication Designer living in NYC.
I have been working for a small tech company for 15 months with a $35/hr rate. Since I graduated 7 months ago, my time and responsibilities in the company have increased (I started part-time). In addition to branding and publication design, I’ve taken lead on UI design for mobile and web, as well as some illustration and video editing once in a while.
Considering high living costs, nearly 30% tax rate, completed graduation, considerably higher experience in the field (compared to just a year ago) as well as increased responsibilities, is it reasonable to increase my hourly rate to something like $50/hr?
